Gold Coast Marina

Gold Coast Marina will save around 180,000 litres of water per year with water efficiency practices introduced at the Marina’s dry boat storage facility.

As Australia’s world class working marina it provides the best facilities to service boats up to 150 tons.

The facility includes a 5 hectare shipyard, 64 industrial factories, over 200 marina berths and an undercover dry boat storage facility which houses over 250 vessels.

Water saving is seen as essential to the daily activities of the marina and on 24 November they received the Environmental Management Award at this year’s Gold Coast Business Excellence Awards.

The water saving program introduced at the Marina’s dry boat storage facility includes the following:
  1. Installed three 37,000 litre rain water tanks which have been connected to the roof to harvest rainwater
  2. Harvested and stored water is pumped to outside taps as non-potable water. This is used by boat owners to clean their vessels and flush clean the inboard/outboard motors to remove salt water residue.
  3. Run off from these activities is diverted and treated in an oil water separator unit and treatment plant. The treated water can either be discharged to landscape or diverted back to the water tank in times of low rainfall. Gold Coast Marina
